So I asked for this for Christmas & took it out the other day. It is pretty fair as a backpack, although the handle on the top could be more comfortable (it is just a strip of fabric). The problem is there is very little real storage. Yes it holds my camera body with lens. It holds another lens and some accessories. It has a slot for the lap top. BUT if you travel with this as your carry on and you carry power cords for your laptop, an external hard drive, etc. there is little or no room even for a shirt, a pair of underwear and toiletries. So that means - plan on checking a bag. As someone who only travels with a laptop backpack, now I am mentally trying to figure out how to travel now. I am thinking I can check my other backpack OR get a bag that I can strap too the back of my backpack that can carry my clothes. Or not traveling with this bag.

Another thing is - and maybe I need an instructional video - is HOW to you access the side entry without taking it off. Unless you leave it unzipped and take it off of one shoulder, I can't figure it out.

I am also making a case for my tripod to connect to it.

If you just need a bag for photography and NOTHING else, I guess it is a good bag, but if you travel with your camera - get a larger bag or plan on checking a bag.

I wish I would have thought about this before getting this backpack.

Purchased a Canon Rebel XTi kit with multiple lenses prior to a trip to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons in May. Wanted to take the laptop to download and review photos daily, so purchased the Lowepro based upon recommendations in on-line photography sites. Camera, lenses and laptop (15.4") all fit easily and appear to be well protected, although I did not test by dropping the pack during the trip. Many thoughtful storage spaces. It has a very nice, high quality feel about it, and by slipping off one of the shoulder straps, it can be pivoted and the camera (with 75-300MM telephoto) removed quickly. Found this technique on the Lowepro web site. I am also storing the camera in this backpack, so it available to go without any preparation other than installing the camera's battery.

I used this on a recent business trip where I had time over a weekend to do some photography. The bag is fairly small for an adult man and easily fits in the overhead bin of even small regional jets. Held my laptop, power adapter, body with 70-200 mm lens and two other (fairly small) lenses. All of that was held in padded compartments. That left a top, unpadded compartment for my reading material, etc. for the plane. It also has a convenient pocket on the outside of this top compartment, which I used for tickets and travel info. The shoulder straps are well padded and made carrying the whole thing fairly easy. It also has a well-padded hip strap, although I don't usually use this. Well designed and well made.

Good size neither too large or too small. Protects camera. Worth buying.

The bag is extremely helpful in organizing my stuff, i always spend the time searching where i put what. but not any more!
If fits well my laptop, camera, a book, & traveling documents.
The only thing that bathers me is that even without the laptop inside i have a shoulder/neck pain after carrying it for some hours.
