Editorial Reviews:

The Stylus 840 is a perfect camera for users looking for a compact digital camera with advanced features. An attractive package of features including a 5x Optical Zoom and Digital Image Stabilization helps users capture clear, crisp memories. 8.0MP gives you superior image quality that you can use to make large prints, or even crop, without losing detail. The Stylus 840 has a 5x optical zoom that gets 60% closer to the action when compared to a 3x zoom with this ultra-compact, precision-crafted Olympus lens. With the Dual Image Stabilization you get 2-in-1 anti-blur solutions that keeps your shot steady by compensating for camera shake to capture crisp, clear images in any situation. Easily view photos on the 2.7" HyperCrystal LCD that lets you view at extra-wide angles and with the anti-glare technology share photos with family and friends even in direct, bright sunlight. This replaced my Olympus Stylus 710 that was dropped 1 too many times in the 2.5 years I owned it. During those 2.5 years it had traveled all over North American and to 3 other continents and served me very well.

Very small, very easy to use, tons of features and settings yet easy to just point and shoot (which is largely how I use it).

The benefits of the Stylus 840 over the older camera are more optical zoom, larger lcd, and more megapixels (though for my purposes, ~6 MP is more than enough; picts with this at the highest setting are close to 2MB). There are a few other nice new touches too.

Biggest draw back? Olympus dropped the All-weather protection which is VERY disappointing and why went with Olympus in the first place. In fact, if I didn't already have a case, extra batteries, 2GB memory cards, and familiarity with the controls from my earlier Olympus, I might have considered a Canon.

With that said, I quite like the Olympus and have no regrets or complaints with the quality of the picts.

This camera is great for everyday users. It's relatively simple to figure out but has more complicated features for the more advanced user. The in-camera panorama feature is one-of-a-kind! The image quality is great. Slim and portable. The battery life is very decent.

This is the first above-avg camera I've bought. It is small, durable, takes great shots, and has a fast shutter. No complaints

I love, love, love this camera. It takes GREAT photos! I have been amazed! It's fun to experiment with all the extra settings but works awesome on automatic. A friend purchased a similar camera the same time I purchased this one. We compared photos and features and she immediately returned hers and traded for this same camera. I highly recommend it!

I was highly disappointed in the photo quality of my new Olympus Stylus 840. It takes the worst, grainiest pictures I've ever seen! I have no idea what camera the people below are reviewing.
