Editorial Reviews:

Take stunning shots in a variety of conditions. The Sony DSC-W150 Cyber-shot(R) 8.1-Megapixel Digital Camera features an Intelligent Scene mode, which automatically selects the right settings for your environment. Smile Shutter technology lets you instantly capture smiles the moment they happen. A Carl Zeiss 5x optical zoom lens and Sony's Double Anti-Blur solution provide crisp, clear images. Because an off-center subject can make your shot more interesting, a 9-point auto-focus measures the focus at 9 precision points instead of 5 for a greater creative freedom to compose your image. A large, bright 2.7" Clear Photo LCD display includes an anti-reflective coating that provides for excellent visibility to help you compose, view, and share photos with superb clarity and color reproduction, even in bright sunlight. Face Detection technology automatically controls focus, exposure, color, and flash to help reveal faces in shadows, make skin tones look more natural, reduce red-eye, and eliminate harsh facial glare, so your photos bring out every expression on every face in every shot. A built-in optical viewfinder lets you compose your photos in traditional rangefinder camera style and helps save battery power by turning off your LCD display. Shutter Speed - Auto (1/4 - 1/1,600) / Program Auto (1 - 1/1,600) ISO - Auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 Flash Modes - Auto, Flash On, Slow Syncro, and Flash Off Scene Modes - Auto, Easy Shooting, Program Auto, Movie, High Sensitivity, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Soft Snap, Landscape, Beach, Snow, Fireworks, Smile Shutter, and Underwater Movie Modes - MPEG VX Fine with Audio (640x480 at 30fps), MPEG VX Standard with Audio (640x480 at 16fps), 320 (QVGA, 320 x 240, Approx.8.3fps) Operating System - Microsoft 2000 Professional, Me, XP Home and Professional, Macintosh OS 9.1, 9.2, and OS X (10.0-10.4)

Excellent product. Takes great pictures no matter what lighting or setting. Perfect for the beginning photographer or the expert!

I really like this camera, as I said, it's sleek and functional.
Ease to use as well.. I am very satisfied with this camera for the price and what I got. And it has the perfect size for what I need.

I bought this camera as a gift for my niece, who was upset that she was missing good photos of her 18 month old son, because her other camera hesitated before capturing the photo. She told me that the Cybershot snaps the photo immediately, and she doesn't miss anything cute that he does! And she loves the red color.

Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5 Optical image stablization and 5x zoom make for a nice point and shoot.
Got this point and shoot for my high school aged daughter who wanted a camera to take pics of friends and places that she's visited. She had been disappointed by other point and shoot cameras that we had tried in the past, because the pictures would always come out blurry - the only way that we could take non-blurry shots was to use the countdown timer to take the shot, so that the act of pressing the shutter release wouldn't cause the camera to move while taking the picture. This is something that she couldn't be bothered to do, so she hated the pictures that she took.

This camera has turned out to be great for her, and she is quite happy with it. She gets lots of candid and posed shots, and almost all are blur-free. The extra zoom range works out well, allowing nicer closeups that you would expect in this class of camera.

Note that my older daughter, who is a camera snob (takes very pretty "artsy" shots) doesn't like this camera, because she feels she doesn't have enough control over her shots - her Canon PowerShot Pro Series S5 IS 8.0MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom is the one for her.

Pros:
Optical image stabilization works quite well.
5x Zoom is better than standard for this class.
Face finder and "smile detection" seems like a gimmick but works surprisingly well.
Large screen AND zoom optical viewfinder cover all situations.

Cons:
Sony memory stick means less choices and higher prices, can't as easily find a replacement.
Not taking AA batteries means you should probably get a second rechargeable battery.
Not all that good in lower light without flash - ISO 400 is pretty much the limit.

All-in-all, I'd buy this camera again. I've been quite happy with the value and performance, even when keeping in mind the Cons listed above.

Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5 Inconsistent quality, very disappointed, ended up returning it
I do not like returning items, I hardly ever do it. I prefer investing time researching reviews and comparing products before committing to buy. This camera was an exception. I ended up returning it to Amazon. This was my first venture into Cybershot point-and-shoot cameras. This camera is very attractive, it looks really good in paper and given the features provided (e.g. 5x optical zoom and nice display size) it beats similar cameras in price by far. However in practice I have to agree with several other reviews, the quality of pictures from this camera is very inconsistent. I understand if quality is inconsistent taken in low light pictures, that is expected from most point and shoot cameras. But the inconsistency is noticeable in pictures taken in good lighting. On average only 2 out of 5 pictures taken were worth keeping, the remaining 3 were either blurred or with a lot of noise.

I upgraded from a Canon A530, even comparing several shots from that camera, the quality of that old Canon beat this Sony; most of the Sony pictures had noise in it. I tried really hard to keep this camera, I tried several different setting with no success. In the end I ended up settling for the Canon SD1100IS, which only has a 3x optical zoom, but the picture quality is far better and very consistent. I was not surprised to see the DSCW150 camera as low as $170 in brick and mortar stores such as Target. The launching price was $249. This was a very poor first impression of Cybershot cameras for me. Hopefully the inconsistency of quality is limited to this model. I am really surprised that at the time of this writing this camera was rated at 4 stars.
