Worst nikon I've ever owned I bought this camera from a Staples near me a little over a year ago. I have an SLR and was looking for something compact and light to take on vacation. From day 1 it's never worked right. It refuses to take still pictures in bright light, even though it'll shoot video in the same light conditions. Almost everything comes out blurry. I'm not a beginner camera user, but for point and shoot relaibility, I'm horribly disappointed in Nikon. It's actually so bad I've taken my SD card out and put it back in the box to sell at a yard sale for $10 just to get rid of it.
It's slick looking and portable, and fits in a pocket really well. The screen is great. The actual camera part is horrendous. Save your money and buy a different point and shoot.
3rd LCD screen in less than one year! I bought this camera on an impulse before a trip last summer. 4 Days into the trip I turned on the camera to find the LCD screen had been broken. Neither my girlfriend or I could think of any likely scenario that would have caused such damage. After returning home and doing some research, it really upset me to find dozens of reviews online that echoed my same gripe about a fragile LCD screen.
Instead of going the route of trying to return/repair the screen through Nikon (which I discovered through online reviews/forums was almost as pricey as a new camera) I found another LCD screen online that was specifically designed for an s220. Then that one broke after about 9 months. I just today installed the 3rd LCD screen.
Do not buy this camera for this reason alone. But other reasons also apply: picture quality is definitely sub par to other 10 megapixel cameras I have used. The pictures are very grainy and/or blurry on most settings.
Fragile - Do Not Buy I travel frequently and needed a small durable camera to document construction sites. With batteries and cards it was a nearly $200 investment. It worked great for two working days until I sat down with the camera in the front pocket of my suit pant. This is a loose suit. The pressure from the summer weight wool pant cracked the lcd view screen. I heard the pop. Nikon service offered me the discounted repair for $100. I declined repair.
Stay Away. Too Delicate For Any Type of Use.
It is cheap, not inexpensive. Nikon designed it that way.
I expected a better product and better support from Nikon.
Never again.
Affordable but Mediocre I was going to give it two stars, but alas, the camera is quite cheap. And so:
Automatic adjustments make everything inside appear very red.
Lacks way to fix this auto adjustment easily.
Very short battery life. Cannot charge from computer, either.
Screen could be better.
Often pixelated.
The settings it has are not organized very well.
However:
Portable
Cheap
"Cute" design
Decent with outdoor shots
It's best summed up with the word "mediocre".
loving it i fall in love with this camera it work perectfully
i want to buy another one for back up
