I had a panasonic DMC camera for years with aa batteries. I broke it on a trip and went through 2 new canons, a wide angle Panasonic & a Casio to try to just duplicate the quality of photos from my old Panasonic. Finally gave up and bought this one. (DMC FS7) It is 33 rather than a 28 lense like most of the new cameras. The depth of fi ld, sharpness, and quality of color (I USE VIVID always) is just fantastic. It feels like a well built camera too..no plastic USB flap but a good sturdy metal one. In low light it is unbelievable. I took the inside of a birdhouse about 10pm in Alaska (w/out flash) and it was bright and clear..just drew in light. With those 28mm cameras they need more light and so the f-stop is always 2.8 or such and the depth of field is horrid and the photo edges are just NOT clear. LOVE this Panasonic! Good sharp, clear photos!

This is only my initial review since I have only lived with the camera for about 2 days. Lets start out with the background. I am a professional photographer with a couple big boy DSLR's (NIKON D200 and D300s)so I know my way around a camera.

    The GOODS
    1) Drop dead easy to use. Took me 3 minutes to figure out. Handed it to my not so tech savy girl and she got it within 15min. Press this to do this, press this to do that..SIMPLE
    2) The iA button is a dream. Practically anyone can pick it up and use it.
    3) Pretty fast for a budget PnS
    4) Picture quality is nice, again I wasnt expecting much, but it does take some pretty nice photographs
    5) I love the 16:9 aspect ratio, gives the photos a different feel
    6) AutoFocus in low light is pretty impressive, from focus to fire is barely noticeable. I was able to surprise my GF before she could get her hand up to cover her face.

    The BADS
    1) Is super lite, and as a result, feels a bit cheap (but it is)
    2) No zoom while in vid mode, but thats something I can live without
    3) Proprietary data cable, Im not a fan of this at all. I wish it came with a mini-USB instead

Great camera. Excellent point and shoot. Good in low light (interior photos). Hardly taken a bad photo with it. Controls are easy to reach, and easy to use. Keeps popping up with new features - like the night photo setting which allows up to 60 second exposure! On a point and shoot.
    Value for money is incredible.
You will not be disappointed with this camera.

Very nice camera with good features. But after 1 year, the little focusing motor in the lens failed. Warranty is expired, repair cost is greater than cost of new camera. Beware!

This is an easy to use camera. It is not as good as my big Nikon SLR but my Nikon will not fit in my pocket. This little Panasonic is becoming my favorite casual use camera. I am particularly happy with low light images.
