The stylish, 1-inch slim design of the Coolpix S570 from Nikon means you can slip the power of 12 megapixels into your hip pocket with less bulk than most wallets. The 5x optical wide-angle zoom, with NIKKOR glass lens, brings you close to the action for detail shots, or pulls out for broad beautyscapes captured miles away on the horizon. The 2.7-inch anti-glare LCD helps you line up subjects or view photos in any light.

So far so good! I've had this camera for about a month now and have really enjoyed it. While I can't say I've taken it on a big trip or anything, I have been impressed with it so far. I was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews about this camera, but it had strong ratings on Consumer Reports and the majority of reviews on here were positive. My last 2 digital cameras were Kodak Easy Shares but I have always heard good things about Nikons. I really like the size of this camera and the construction - it feels very sturdy. For a small camera, it has a ton of features, so I would definitely recommend reading the book before you start taking pictures so you know about all of the different settings. I've left mine on the default settings for the most part, and have been pleased with the results in my pictures. The pictures have great color and are very clear.
One thing I have noticed (and it says it in the book) is that once you take the picture, the image that immediately appears on the screen is low resolution, so doesn't always appear super clear. When you go to review mode, it is noticeably clearer, and even better when you view them on your computer or TV. You are also able to get a good idea of the quality when you zoom in while in review mode.
So, so far so good with this Nikon - can't wait to take it on a trip and really test it out!
Not Blink Proof I bought this camera for the 'Blink Proof' feature. Every time a picture is taken fo me I blimlk. Even if they say the flash is off but really it is on, I will blink... so surely this camera has the solution?
No. Apparently the blink proof feature only works when the flash is disabled. But considering I don't blink when the flash is disabled it's a uselss feature.
Otherwise a good little camera, good quality images and easy to use but you will want to buy a memory card as without one the camera can only hold ten or so images.
Good, compact point and shoot digital camera This is a good quality pocket camera to carry with you wherever you go. I am impressed with the image quality, small size and user-friendly nature. If you need a faster shutter speed and more professional shots you should select a Digital SLR with interchangeable lenses for much more money. If you want portability and good vacation/grandkids images, I recommend this camera.
Once again Amazon.com exceeded my expectations. I ordered the camera, a small, hard-sided carrying case and two SD chips. All of the items came from different places and all of them were in my mail within three days of ordering with regular shipping.
Great Photos - Very Poor Build Quality We bought this camera in February 2010 for my wife to use during her trip to Europe this spring. The camera takes great photos and is easy to use. However, it seems to be very cheaply built. The top of the on/off button fell off during the trip. You can still turn it on and off, but only not easily. Also, the cover for the battery/memory card compartment sticks, so you have to use something to pry it open. There is also a grinding noise from inside the camera when it is turned on. It's going back to Nikon this week (6/7//10) for repairs or replacement. Good price on the camera so it has served its purpose, however being a Nikon SLR user since the 1960s I expected better from Nikon.
Very Nice but slow to take Pictures I don't know if this is due to image perfection because I have not downloaded them yet. I will let you know. Nice camera and excellent price.
